We Are Still Going, and Going

Hello!  Again, we've let much time slip by without a word. Hoping you haven't yet forgotten about us...

We are still very actively providing music in a number of venues. Please look at our Calendar Dates section to see some of the up and coming events as they evolve.

Many of our performances have been out of town, in the Cleveland area specifically. We are ever hopeful to build a local relationship that will allow regular showings so we can see our friends and neighbors in the Athens area more frequently.

How many irons in the fire?

We always try to remain busy or at least as busy as we can with our music. In addition to appearing regularly as Charlie & Celia, we are also a part of Long Road, a Cleveland based 6 member band that focuses on the folk music sound.  As David Budin, the founder and leader of the group puts it, "We make old songs new and old new songs sound old."  The music itself might come from any genre or period, but is performed in a style that you might have heard had you gone to a folk club in the '60's.

We are again performing this year with David Budin and Long Road and soon hope to have a couple of…

Summer, 2012

Hmmm...looking over our news, it's pretty outdated.

So, starting this summer, keep one eye on this area, as we will be updating our movements and activities on a more frequent schedule than every 2 or 3 years...

Our next email newsletter should be out soon, as we are busy this summer, and hope that we might see some of you over the next few months.  If not, please check in and let us know where we might find you.

After our June 20 private event, we will appear at Cain Park twice this summer, and will…

Since Last Summer

Whew! It's been nearly a year since we entered any news, and yet all this time it's been news, news, news. We've seen many of our friends and fans over this past 9 months. We've had our busiest times this past year. And, this winter, we had a difficult period with illness - much vocal distress. Spring seems to be pulling us back into focus. Plans for our next CD are back in motion. We're looking forward to our summer productions with Ohio Valley Summer Theater We promise to enter more current…

In the thick of it . . . .

It is intermission between the acts of the Secret Garden as I write this. I hadn't really planned to be doing OVST this Summer, but sometimes things sweep you along in directions other than you intended It's a great show to be part of and I would encourage any and all of you to attend one of the performances if you are able. See our upcoming events page to learn more about it. The new CD is in the planning stages, but we hope to begin initial recordings of some of the songs in August. I need…

It never ends . . . .

. . . and we're glad it doesn't We've just returned from the Cleveland performances at Cain Park with David Budin and Long Road. It was a great show to be part of and it now appears we will be doing it again in Willoughby, Ohio in August. Other things are in the works as well and we are going to be very busy the rest of the Summer--we need to update our calendar so you can all see what we mean--promise to get that in place in the next couple of days. We had planned to take a little time to work…

It's been too long . . .

What’s that? Summer 2007 Okay, it has been a while since we posted any “news”. It actually surprises me to see this as we have clearly been very busy---busy with everything except updating our news page. Last Summer saw many things, including the long awaited reunion of the Frogwhompers. The Green Parks album that was sold in the 1970’s was released on CD for the first time with some dandy previously unreleased bonus tracks featuring the 1976 touring group. The more or less complete…

Summer, 2007

A big, happy thank you to those who came to see us in June, to those who wrote, and to all of you who continue to support our music passion and fetish . . . we're grateful. The photos are changing . . . please send any you might have! We'll post'em.

A few words from Matthew Griffin . . .

The Hills of Ohio was written on the bus on the way to Cleveland one morning. We had to leave from the school of theater at some ungodly hour in the middle of the night to get to a morning performance in Cleveland. Anne Smith, Marsha Pierson and I were the unlucky slobs who didn't manage to find enough space to stretch out and snooze. If we'd had a bigger bus, that song might not have gotten written Anyway -- there we were -- upright and awake and with several hours to kill. Anne says, "I've had…
